Update: After speaking to a representative at Uber, we’ve got some clarity on the situation. According to the company, the user in question did receive a $908 bill for his ride, but he never actually left the greater Atlanta region. The high fare was a result of both surge pricing (due to intense demand) and the inputting of an incorrect address. Uber claims it has worked with the user to reduce the overall price paid.

One Rebels supporter, if we’re to believe the tweets posted by his cousin, is regretting it far more than his counterparts, however.
A Twitter user named @ompowderblues claims that his cousin left a New Year’s Eve party at the Peach Bowl, hailed an Uber cab, and accidentally put his home address in the application. He then passed out.
He lives in Mississippi. The Peach Bowl is in Atlanta, Georgia. It wound up costing him $908.

We reached out to the user, but have yet to hear back.
If this is true, it’s highly unfortunate. Besides the fact that you have to drive through all of Alabama to get to Mississippi, there was surge pricing on New Year’s Eve. We’re not really sure what the lesson learned is here – there seem to be many.
