The Tennessean Reports That James Franklin’s Ad Was Paid For By Penn State
Earlier today, The Tennessean ran an ad from former Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin, thanking Commodores fans for their support.
This has become a pretty standard move in sports when someone switches from one team to another after a long tenure. However, it’s usually assumed that the ad is put together and paid for by that person on their own. That doesn’t seem to be the case with Franklin’s message.
The staff of The Tennessean reports that the ad was actually paid for by Penn State, according to The Tennessean’s vice president of sales.
People on Twitter are not amused by the news:
Just remember James Franklin the next time u hear a coach heaping praise on a fan base. Or, saying they love where they coach. Its often BS.

Penn State paid for Franklin’s ad in the Tennessean not James Franklin. Wow Probably negotiated that in his contract.
