Penn State Is Calling For A Gold Out At Beaver Stadium For THON Game vs. Illinois

Penn State is known for its absolutely perfect ‘White Out’ games each and every year, where all Nittany Lions fans engulf Beaver Stadium in their white t-shirts. This week against Illinois, PSU is looking to shake things up a bit, and is calling a “Gold Out” to raise awareness for pediatric cancer.

The move, of course, is partnered with Penn State’s THON, which is a the largest student-run philanthropy in the world:

The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON, is a yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer.  Since 1977, THON has raised more than $101 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

The “Gold Out” was announced first on THON’s Facebook page:

While THON officials realize that the whole crowd showing up in gold t-shirts is much harder to pull off than the typical white, they are encouraging everyone to wear a little bit of gold, even if it’s simply a ribbon. I have to say though, if Penn State does pull of a full “Gold Out”, that stadium will look really, really cool.
