Video: I Went Out Looking For Ohio State Football Predictions, Found Out A Whole Lot More
This past Monday, I decided to pass on studying for my Spanish test and walk Ohio State’s campus to hear what people were saying about Ohio State football. I asked my dear friend Ethan Clark to accompany me, and he was bored enough to say yes.
My hope was to interview a diverse group of people – from football experts to people who know nothing about the sport. When it was all said and done, I ended up with more of the latter than the former. Buckeye Nation, baby! There were few intelligent exchanges, some comical spots, and many awkward moments.
And the last person I interviewed, well let’s just say he gave me a lot more personal info than I was expecting:
A quick rundown of the predictions:
We had Scott, the nice young man who was just trying to enjoy his turkey sandwich before we interrupted his day. I think that upset him a bit, because he picked Ohio State to lose to Cal. Whatever, Scott.
We interviewed Chris in the red shirt. Chris was one of the few knowledgeable people we had the pleasure of speaking with. He said Ohio State would put up 42 points Saturday. He also knew that Cal’s nickname is the Bears. Compared to some other interviews, that’s impressive.
There was Anastasia, who wanted to get us to vote. I told her to forget that boring stuff and talk Ohio State football instead. Turns out she doesn’t watch College Gameday every Saturday and didn’t know much about football, but she did know that OSU beat UCF!
We talked to Neil, who is a bartender at Midway on High Street. Neil predicted that Ohio State would beat Cal, 34-10.
Then I talked to Brittney. Wasn’t much football discussion there. She has a friend in the band.
Ethan and I talked to Mark from Boss Dogs. Those guys have awesome hot dogs. Mark has Ohio State winning big on Saturday. He also thinks we should edit Scott, sandwich boy, out of the video.
Then there was Andrew from the SBX bookstore, who, when I asked him for a prediction for Saturday, told me he didn’t know what was happening Saturday. I don’t think he liked us too much.
I had the pleasure of talking with Desiree, the most experienced server at Eddie George’s Bar and Grill. After forgetting who OSU played Saturday, Desiree recovered to make a respectable 38-17 prediction in favor of the Buckeyes.
Next was Mary-Jane, a bartender at Chumley’s. She was so nice. Mary-Jane has Ohio State winning 30-17.
The last interview was with Joseph Ramirez, the homeless newspaper salesman. He predicted a 49-14 win for OSU over “the lower team”. He also never, ever, wants to go back to jail, apparently.
Be sure to check back this weekend to see whose prediction was the closest!
