Ohio State Player Of The Week: Braxton Miller Crushes His Rushing Yards Record

Braxton Miller

Braxton Miller and the Ohio State Buckeyes rolled through the Miami (OH) RedHawks 56-10 in Urban Meyer’s debut. Miller finished the game with 368 total yards (207 passing) and three total touchdowns (two passing).

The offense started off slowly for the Buckeyes. Miller only completed one of his first seven passes and each drive in the first quarter ended in a punt. The offense found its rhythm early in the second quarter when Miller hit sophomore receiver Devin Smith on a remarkable one-handed catch for a touchdown. A couple minutes later, Miller connected with junior receiver Corey “Philly” Brown on a five-yard touchdown pass.

Just seconds into the second half, Miller scored on a 65-yard touchdown run; juking a RedHawks defender in the process.

Miller’s 161 rushing yards is a career high and the most ever by an Ohio State quarterback in a single game. This is the second game in his young career where he has thrown for over 200 yards and rushed for more than 100 yards.

Braxton Miller will look to continue his stellar play in Urban Meyer’s offense next Saturday against the University of Central Florida.
