ESPN’s Lee Corso: The SEC Is Not The Best Conference In The Country This Season

The Southeastern Conference has won seven of the last eight national championships and has eight teams in the preseason AP Poll. It’s not the best league in America, though, Lee Corso says.

ESPN is currently broadcasting a “Season Preview” episode of its best program, “College GameDay.” Corso, along with fellow analysts Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard, and host Chris Fowler, are spouting off opinions about the upcoming college football season.

Corso, when discussing the SEC, claimed that it isn’t the best league “top to bottom” this season. The Pac-12 is.

While some might take that statement as blasphemy, it’s not that unrealistic. The Pac-12 has multiple national title contenders in Oregon, UCLA, and Stanford. Washington, Arizona State, and USC each appear in the preseason top 25, too.

Corso’s colleagues, Herbstreit and Howard, disagreed with his opinion, though.

“They just play better defense in the SEC,” Howard said.
