A Day In The Life Of Ohio State Point Guard Aaron Craft

ESPN the Magazine

What more is there to say about Aaron Craft? He was already getting plenty of attention with his non-stop hustle and rosy-red cheeks, and after hitting today’s game-winning shot that put Ohio State into the Sweet 16, you can be assured to hear Craft’s name even more.

But who is Aaron Craft really? To answer that question, I’ve decided to give everyone an in-depth look into a day in the life of Aaron Craft.

6:30 a.m.: Aaron wakes up. He doesn’t hit the snooze button once. He immediately goes to the bathroom and brushes his teeth because he keeps good hygiene and it shows. After getting dressed and eating a nutritious breakfast that includes just the right amount of vitamins and minerals to sustain himself throughout the day, he checks himself in the mirror one last time, smiles, gives himself a thumbs-up, and is quickly on his way.

9:10 a.m.: Aaron is in class. When receiving the attendance sheet, he realizes one of his peers, David, did not make it to class. Aaron understands that many college students do not enjoy waking early to attend class, so he emails Dave the notes for the day. Helping others gives Aaron more satisfaction than helping himself.

10:45 a.m.: Aaron is at the OSU Medical Center, doing some lab work that is required for his Pre-Med degree. He reads up on various chemicals and nonchalantly decides to mix them in a beaker. On his way out, Aaron tells his supervisor to check on his mixture later that evening.

12:07 p.m.: Aaron goes to the Woody Hayes Center just to run around for a while.

1:18 p.m.: While walking to his next class, Aaron catches an elderly woman falling off of a ladder. He informs her that, at her age, she shouldn’t have been up there to begin with, though it was no problem catching her. The elderly woman mentions that she has a beautiful, well-intentioned granddaughter and shows Aaron a picture of Miss Ohio. “That’s nice of you, but no thanks.” Aaron is faithful to his current girlfriend.

2:04 p.m.: Aaron learns Portuguese.

3:30 p.m.: Aaron walks past a fellow Ohio State student smoking a cigarette. Aaron takes the cigarette from him and properly disposes of it. The student never smokes again.

4:21 p.m.: Aaron shows up to basketball practice 40 minutes early to work on defensive slides and free throws. He also makes some simple but effective jokes with the coaching staff. Everyone has a great time.

7:03 p.m.: Aaron makes an inspirational post-practice speech. Deshaun Thomas is mesmerized.

7:28 p.m.: Aaron sees that coach Chris Jent is having car troubles. He tells Chris to get in his car to stay warm. Aaron has no experience with cars, but that’s no matter. He quickly diagnoses the problem and coach Jent drives home safely, the whole time wondering what he’d do without Aaron Craft.

8:00 p.m.: Aaron is at Cold Stone Creamery. On a whim, Aaron asks the employee for her favorite flavor. She hands him a cup of ice cream of the flavor “Aaron Craft”. It’s exactly what Aaron wanted. He is not caught off-guard by the flavor’s name. Aaron has a taste, approves, and leaves.

8:00 p.m.: Aaron was concurrently at home studying while he was at Cold Stone. Knowing exactly what to expect on the next exam, he scrupulously highlights salient topics in his textbook.

8:23 p.m.: Aaron’s supervisor from the OSU Medical Center calls him and informs him that the mixture he had made earlier appears extremely effective in destroying cancer cells. Aaron suggests that his professor take credit for the mixture and tells him he needs to get back to studying.

9:20 p.m.: Aaron does four sets of 25 push-ups and controls his breathing perfectly. He solves a Rubik’s cube and puts it back down on his nightstand. He drinks some water.

9:37 p.m.: Aaron speaks on the phone with a top government official. Details of the conversation are classified.

9:59 p.m.: Aaron happily responds to every email and letter from his fans.

10:30 p.m.: Aaron goes to bed after brushing his teeth. He will get exactly eight hours of sleep.
