Video: Michigan Basketball Coach John Beilein Threw Out The First Pitch At Comerica Park Last Night
Is Michigan head basketball coach John Beilein considering switching to baseball?
No, he’s not, but he at least had a little fun on Tuesday night when he had a chance to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Comerica Park for the Tigers-Orioles game.
First of all, Beilein’s pitch was much better than fellow Michigan Wolverine Denard Robinson’s, whose attempt was horrible — Shoelace didn’t even get the ball to home plate when he tried a few months ago. Beilein’s was just an average, pretty solid throw. Here’s a video, courtesy of the Michigan Basketball Facebook page:
Afterward, Beilein talked with the Detroit Free Press about the pitch — here’s what he had to say:
“I threw the ball really well. Then when I got up there to throw, it’s a different situation. I was actually a little nervous although I would say I chickened out at the end. When I got out there, I said, ‘I’m going to bring this baby’ but I thought about it going into the dirt or over the top so I just threw it in there.”
John Beilein should be feeling pretty good about the throw. He didn’t embarrass himself, which is always priority number one with these kind of things.
Al Kaline told John Beilein to throw the first pitch high. “Just don’t throw it low. … It was good advice.”
