Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers Hasn’t Decided What Number He’ll Wear, Might Have To ‘Earn’ Woodson’s No. 2

On Thursday, a photo surfaced of Jabrill Peppers’ apparent locker at Michigan. The incoming defensive back has drawn comparisons to former Wolverine legend Charles Woodson, and many assumed he’d wear the former Heisman winner’s No. 2 when his locker featured a No. 2 jersey.

Brady Hoke said today, though, that Peppers hasn’t decided what number he’ll wear this fall. It might be No. 2, but he’ll have to earn it. If not No. 2, it’ll probably be No. 5.

Woodson, who wore No. 2 at Michigan, winning the Heisman trophy in 1997, is apparently a fan of Peppers wearing his number. He commented on our Facebook post about the locker room photo, saying, “Jabrill Peppers, not afraid to be great. Go Blue!”

Peppers was a five-star, top-10 recruit in the 2014 class. He’ll likely play right away as a true freshman.
