For most college basketball fans, the NCAA Tournament begins on Thursday at Noon. But for supporters of Tennessee and Iowa, things kick off the night before. The Vols and Hawkeyes, both 11-seeds, are set to do battle in the “first round” in Dayton, Ohio.

Date: Wednesday, March 19, 2014

Time: 9:10 PM EST

TV Channel: truTV

Location: University of Dayton Arena (Dayton, OH)

Prediction: Tennessee is hot, having won six of its last seven games. Iowa, on the other hand, has lost six of its last seven games. So the smart pick here is the Vols, right? Not so fast.

Hawkeyes senior guard Roy Devyn Marble, who scores 17.3 points per game and has the ability to take over at any point, could be a matchup problem for Tennessee. Iowa is also one of the best offensive teams in the nation – ranking 10th in points per game, seventh in rebounds per game and 11th in assists per game. This one probably comes down to whether Jordan McRae & Co. can force the Hawkeyes into enough bad shots. We’ll say no, and go with the Hawkeyes.
