Photo: Illinois Wearing New “10-Star” Helmets To Honor Illini Who Have Died In Combat

This Saturday, we’re going to see a number of college football programs honoring our nation’s military by wearing red, white and blue uniforms and helmets. Illinois will be taking a different approach, but it’s no less patriotic.

The Illini will be donning new helmet decals that feature the state of Illinois and 10 “stars” to honor the ten former players who have died in combat. It’s an awesome gesture by the program.

The team takes on undefeated Ohio State at home, still in search of its first Big Ten victory of the season. Perhaps the new lid, along with what it stands for, can provide the spark the players need.
