Upset Alert: Temple Leads Rutgers At The Half

20121020-135043.jpgIn what could be Temple’s biggest matchup in recent history, the Owls are leading the 15th ranked Scarlet Knights of Rutgers at halftime, 10-0.

It is a packed house at Lincoln Financial Field, as many Rutgers fans have made the trip right down the turnpike to Philadelphia.

Temple scored first on a four yard pass from Chris Coyer that was originally tipped, but tight end Cody Booth made a spectacular catch for the touchdown.

Temple is winning the turnover battle thus far 2-1, but was unable to capitalize on a Rutgers fumble when Brandon McManus went wide right on a 48 yard field goal.

McManus did come back to hit a 49 yard field goal to give the Owls a 10-0 advantage.

Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova, who came into the game with 11 touchdowns (already equaling his total from all of last year) and two interceptions on the season was intercepted by Tavon Young right before the half to send the Owls into the tunnel with a 10 point advantage over the Scarlet Knights.

Chris Coyer leads the way with 61 yards through the air with a touchdown.

Montel Harris has 14 carries for 50 yards against a Rutgers defense that has one of the top three rushing defenses in the entire country.

Stay tuned as Temple looks to pull off a huge upset against the Scarlet Knights in Philadelphia.
