Increased Security At The Carrier Dome After Last Week’s Disaster
We all knew the stabbing during Orange Madness last week would lead to some updated security measures at the Carrier Dome. The effects of that were seen tonight for Syracuse football’s win over UConn. When entering the Dome, every fan was scanned by a metal detection wand by the Carrier Dome staff. Even the concession stand workers and marching band players were subject to scans.
The change resulted in long lines as everyone waited to be scanned before entering.
Security lines at the Carrier Dome for the @syracuseu game are awful. Most people will miss kickoff. Unacceptable.

So if you’re heading to the Dome for a game, be sure to get there early because the long lines will probably continue. Many were frustrated and upset about the new security measures. But that’s what happens when facilities aren’t respected. With no stabbing during Orange Madness, we wouldn’t have been subject to these long lines.
I’m not complaining. Carrier Dome staff, the Department of Public Safety and the Syracuse Police department are just doing what’s best for the safety of the fans. Plan accordingly.
