Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o Graces Cover of Newest Sports Illustrated
After responding to heartbreak with a completely humble demeanor and exceptional performance on the field, it’s about time that Notre Dame middle linebacker Manti Te’o receives some national recognition.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Te’o's photo made the regional cover for the newest issue of Sports Illustrated, arguably the most prestigious sports magazine in the country. The photo is given the following caption: “Star Linebacker, Star Student, Future Pro Manti Te’o has Restored the Shine to the Golden Dome.”
Following the deaths of his grandmother and his long-time girlfriend (both in the same week), Te’o delivered outstanding efforts against both Michigan State and Michigan by forcing turnovers left and right, ballhawking all over the field, and inspiring the play of his teammates.
At home against Michigan, fans supported the senior linebacker by sporting leis recognizing Te’o's Hawaiian heritage, which could be seen all throughout Notre Dame Stadium. After the game, Te’o claimed he was humbled and honored by all of the support he received, stating that the showing reaffirmed his decision to join the Notre Dame community in the first place.
To say that Te’o deserves to be on the cover of SI would be an understatement. Not only is he an incredible athlete, but he’s an even better person, one that domers are proud to say is leading the Fighting Irish back to glory. Great job, Manti.
