It’s Official: Notre Dame Is The Only FBS Team To Have Never Trailed At Any Point This Season

Time to get on the bandwagon

Yes, it’s only week 5. But still, that’s pretty damn impressive.

While taking a rest this weekend, Notre Dame secured its title as the only major college football team that has not trailed at any point this season. Only once were the Irish stuck in a tie ballgame (against Purdue, 17-17 in the 4th quarter). In each of ND’s other match-ups, Notre Dame jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

Much of the credit can be attributed to the defense, which has only allowed three touchdowns all year and none in the last two weeks against rivals Michigan and Michigan State. Don’t expect this trend to continue all year; there certainly will be times where the Irish must fight back to secure a victory, especially against some of its tougher upcoming opponents. Still, take this as a sign that Coach Kelly’s squad will be competitive in each and every game this season. There is no one the Irish can’t compete with, so the nation better start to recognize Notre Dame as a top-tier football team once again.

Plus, if Mark May, of all people, says we’re going to win 10 games, then we must be doing something right…
