Video: Villanova Got Hosed On A Charge Call Against Marquette, Heads To Overtime

Villanova head coach Jay Wright is not a happy camper right now. His Wildcats are playing on the road at Marquette this afternoon, and thought that they had escaped from the BMO Harris Bradley Center with a victory in the game’s final second. Senior guard Tony Chennault found his way into the lane on what should have been the game’s final possession and appeared to hit the game-winner, and he got fouled doing it. Unfortunately for him, the referees called a charge on the drive, erasing the basket and sending the game to overtime.

Replays clearly showed that the Marquette defender was in the restricted zone when the players made contact — the bucket should have counted:

Villanova is currently leading in the final minute of overtime and may still escape, but Jay Wright isn’t going to be forgiving the refs and time soon.
