3 Things You Need To Know About UConn vs. Western Michigan
This weekend, UConn goes on the road to face the Western Michigan Broncos. Here are three things you need to know about the match-up in Kalamazoo.
38-31, Western Michigan - Western won this matchup last year in a wild shootout that saw the game come down to a fumble in the fourth quarter by UConn tight end Ryan Griffin. Western Michigan quarterback Alex Carder had a monster game, going 37- 51 for 479 yards and five touchdowns. He’s back and is looking for another big game against the Huskies.

UConn’s Defense - Despite the loss of Jesse Joseph for the season, the 11th ranked UConn defense, led by star linebackers Sio Moore and Yawin Smallwood, is still loaded. It looks like Blidi Wreh-Wilson is on track to get back from injury to help the backfield of a defense that is really going to have to perform against an explosive Western Michigan offense. Come game time, look for E.J. Norris, Kenton Adeyemi, and Timmy Willman to step up and fill the shoes of Joseph.
Location, Location, Location - Western Michigan came to the Rent last year and dropped the Huskies. The matchup now moves to Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo – very foreign territory for UConn. A second consecutive road victory would do wonders for the Huskies’ season coming home next week to play Buffalo.
