Kliff Kingsbury Once Brought In “Bottle Service Girls” In An Ice Cream Truck During Practice
Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury has seemingly mastered the idea of relating to his players. So it should not come as any surprise that back during his days as an assistant under Kevin Sumlin at Houston, he gave his guys a little taste of high society. Kingsbury told Dan Le Batard Wednesday that he and Sumlin once brought in an ice cream truck filled with bottle service girls from one of the clubs nearby during practice.
Here’s the exchange, via Coaching Search:
What’s the craziest thing you’ve done in an effort to have a good practice?
“When we were at the University of Houston (as an assistant under Kevin Sumlin), we brought an ice cream truck, but we filled it with some girls from one of the clubs, the bottle girls. That was impressive. That was a good practice.”
(LeBatard): Wait a minute. Wait a minute. What did you do? You filled an ice cream truck?
“The bottle service. The cute bottle service girls. In Houston, you can do that. You can’t do that in Lubbock. There is no bottle service in Lubbock.”
No wonder Kingsbury’s known as a player’s coach. Houston reached a bowl game in three of the four years that Kingsbury and Sumlin were around – apparently they were doing something right.
