Report: Texas Down To ASU’s Steve Patterson, WVU’s Oliver Luck As Candidates For AD Position
A little over one month ago, Texas officially announced that DeLoss Dodds would be stepping down as men’s athletics director for the university, effective August 31st, 2014. Since the announcement, the school has been searching extensively for the heir to the throne. Rumors have been swirling that West Virginia athletics director Oliver Luck is the lead candidate for the job, but according to a report by Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman, it is now a two-man race between Luck and Arizona State’s Steve Patterson:
Texas has narrowed athletic director search to two, West Virginia’s Oliver Luck, ASU’s Steve Patterson. No more candidate interviews.

Per Bohls’ report:
“You’ve got two viable candidates,” one source said Monday night. “Everybody has been saying it’s Oliver Luck and it’s a done deal, but that’s not true. This is a true search. This is not window-dressing.”
The other source said the decision could come this week but an announcement would probably not be made until next week.
If we had to give an edge to either candidate, it would be to Patterson because of his much more professional dress attire. In all seriousness though, both are great candidates for the job, and it will be interesting to see who Texas opts to go with.
