Photo: Texas To Wear Helmets With “63″ On The Side For 2013 Opener

Update: Apparently there’s a chance that these will be the helmets that the Longhorns will wear for all 2013 games — according to Mack Brown, the team will vote on them:


Earlier: The Texas Longhorns open their 2013 season this Saturday against New Mexico State in Austin this Saturday. To celebrate the new beginning, the team will be switching up its wardrobe for the opener — specifically, the Longhorns will be wearing special helmets with the players’ numbers on the sides, as opposed to their normal placement on the back on the helmet.

Similar helmets were actually worn in a 2009 game vs Texas A&M — wearing the throwbacks again is a nice change of pace.
