Jameis Winston Is Still Talking Texas, Says He’d Follow Jimbo Fisher To Austin
Florida State’s Heisman-winning quarterback Jameis Winston may have wound up a Seminole, but he’s making it known that he wanted to be a Texas Longhorn. Winston, speaking at today’s press conference ahead of the BCS National Championship Game, said that his high school coach tried to contact head coach Mack Brown and UT multiple times – he said he even tried to give them a ring himself. The Longhorns did not return any of their calls.
Jameis Winston on if his HS coach called Mack Brown about him 5 times: “Oh yeah! I even tried to call. I wanted to go to Texas bad!”

This isn’t the first time that Winston has mentioned his original desire to play for the Longhorns – he’s clearly still not thrilled with being overlooked.
Winston also proclaimed that should FSU coach Jimbo Fisher leave the Seminoles for Texas, he’d want to tag along.
Jameis Winston: “Even if Coach Fisher goes to Texas, I’m going to ask him can I go w/you? Yeah I’m serious. He’s my coach”

A Heisman-trophy winning quarterback potentially transferring to the school that snubbed him in high school? That’d be a new one.
