Baylor’s Art Briles Admits To ‘Conversation’ With Texas About Job This Offseason
One of the names that seemed to appear on the list of potential candidates to replace Mack Brown at Texas this offeason was Art Briles. The Baylor coach would likely have been a great fit, being from the state and having taken the Bears’ program from below average to elite in a short period of time.
Texas hired Louisville’s Charlie Strong, though Briles admitted this afternoon on Paul Finebaum’s ESPN radio show that he did have discussions with the Longhorns about the job.

You would be hard pressed to find a better quote from a coach discussing their interest in another school’s coaching position.
