Photos: Oklahoma State Gets Cotton Bowl Rings, Despite Losing The Cotton Bowl
Oklahoma State has certainly enjoyed a good run under head coach Mike Gundy – in fact, in the past five seasons, the Cowboys have racked up 50 wins, an average of 10 per year. Last season, OSU came very close to a BCS bowl appearance, but fell to in-state rival Oklahoma in its final Big 12 game and wound up playing in the Cotton Bowl instead. Though the Cowboys eventually fell to SEC foe Missouri in the contest, they’ll be getting rings to acknowledge the accomplishment.
The school’s web developer, Chris Deal, posted three photos of the rings to Instagram.
It’s a bit strange that we’re seeing all of these programs give out rings to players after losing bowl games, but you do have to remember that judging teams by one postseason game following an entire year’s worth of hard work is tough. We’re guessing that’s why Gundy chose to decorate the rings with an ode to all of their wins in the past half-decade, not just how last season ended.
