Is Oklahoma Worth Wagering On? Here Are The Betting Odds On A Big 12 Title For Each Team In 2014

OU will need to win the Big 12.

OU will need to win the Big 12.

Many believe that the Oklahoma Sooners, who will be led by sophomore quarterback Trevor Knight this season, are a heavy favorite to find themselves in the inaugural College Football Playoff this upcoming January. But they’ll almost undoubtedly have to win the Big 12 to have a shot, considering that only four teams are taken from the entire country. Baylor, Texas and Oklahoma State are also contenders in the conference, which should prove to be competitive all season.

That being said, OU, at least according to one sports book, is the most likely team to win its conference among the “power five”.

Adam Kramer over at Kegs ‘N Eggs alerted us to The Greek’s first offshore odds for the 2014 season. Here’s what it has for the Big 12:

Oklahoma – 2:5 (-250)
Baylor – 5:2 (+250)
Texas - 5:1 (+500)
Oklahoma State – 13:2 (+650)
Kansas State – 8:1 (+800)
TCU – 10:1 (+1000)
Texas Tech – 25:1 (+2500)
Iowa State – 100:1 (+10000)
West Virginia – 100:1 (+10000)
Kansas – 125:1 (+12500)

It’s a bit surprising that Oklahoma has such better odds that some of its competition, but it does return a lot of experience on both sides of the ball. The only other oddity is TCU’s 10:1 odds despite just winning two games in-conference last year.
