One of the unique features of Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Kansas is that the football field is surrounded by a track. In the next few weeks, the track around the field will be removed and replaced by new artificial turf and asphalt, according to a report by Kansas First News. The project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, and will take approximately six weeks to complete.

Memorial Stadium originally opened in 1921. The track has been used to host the Kansas Relays, the largest track meet in the state, since 1923.
