Photo: Iowa State To Wear Special Jersey Patches Honoring Johnny Orr For Rest Of Season

Last Tuesday, legendary Iowa State college basketball coach Johnny Orr passed away at age 86. Orr famously left the University of Michigan to head to Ames for a raise, and turned around a struggling program, bringing it back to the NCAA Tournament on six occasions. Orr finished as the career leader in coaching wins at Iowa State, ending with a 218-200 record at the university.

To honor the late Orr, the Cyclones will wear special ‘JO’ patches on their jerseys for the rest of the 2013-14 season:

Iowa State is currently off to its best start in school history, sporting an unblemished 13-0 record and a No. 9 ranking. Tonight, the Cyclones play host to No. 7 Baylor in Ames.
