UPDATED: Big East, TCU Reach $5 Million Settlement

The Star Ledger is reporting tonight that the Big East is dropping its lawsuit against Texas Christian University for backing out of its commitment to join the struggling conference. No reason was given by Big East attorney Benjamin Block. The reason? TCU has agreed to pay the $5 million exit fee.
In just the past few days, the Big East has settled on departure dates/fees for Syracuse and Pittsburgh and now dropped its lawsuit against TCU. It’s apparent the conference is moving on.
No word on whether the fact that TCU is in Texas and nowhere near anything remotely considered “east” came into play.
