Significance: Bell was the heart and soul of the Spartan offense in 2012, rushing for 1,793 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns.

Story: Le’Veon Bell dealt some bad news to Michigan State football fans today. The junior running back told head coach Mark Dantonio that he will forgo his senior season to declare for the NFL Draft in April, according to mlive.com. According to Bell’s mentor Donis Toler, Dantonio was “taken aback a little bit” by the decision. Toler added, “He thought he had a good chance of Le’Veon coming back.” Bell is rated as the No. 2 running back in the draft by ESPN’s Scouts Inc.

Story: The Orange ran all over the Mountaineers this afternoon, piling up 376 yards on the ground at a snowy Yankee Stadium, to win their second New Era Pinstripe Bowl in three years. Prince-Tyson Gulley was the difference in this one. His 67 yard touchdown run in the third quarter broke the game open.

The NCAA has reduced its initial year-long suspension of Myck Kabongo for accepting impermissible benefits and giving misleading information to investigators. Kabongo will now have to sit out a total of 23 games and repay $475 to a charity of his choice. The 23-game suspension includes the 11 games that Kabongo has already sat out this season. The Longhorns’ guard will be eligible to return to the court when Texas plays Iowa State on February 13th. Stay tuned.

Significance: Kabongo, a 2011 McDonald’s All American, will serve a season-long ban that is similar to what Dez Bryant received at Oklahoma State in 2009.
