Report: Syracuse Freshman Tyler Ennis Will Leave For The NBA

Update 2: The school has officially released a statement on Ennis’ intentions to enter the NBA Draft. SU student Andrew Pregler provided a screenshot.

Update: According to Adam Zagoria of SNY, Ennis’ father, Tony McIntyre, confirmed the news this afternoon.

Earlier: According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, Syracuse standout freshman point guard Tyler Ennis will leave the Orange to enter this year’s NBA Draft. Ennis’ decision comes less than a week after SU was ousted from the NCAA Tournament by Dayton.

Ennis averaged 12.9 points and 5.5 assists per game in his one year with the Orange. He led Syracuse to a 25-0 start and a second place finish in the ACC. He is projected by most scouts to be a late lottery pick in the draft.

SU fans will now turn their attention to Jerami Grant, who also has a decision to make regarding next season. Should he also leave for the NBA, the Orange would lose three starters (including senior C.J. Fair) from this past season’s squad.
