UNC’s Marcus Paige Announces On Twitter That He’ll Return For His Junior Year

North Carolina sophomore guard Marcus Paige was easily one of the most improved players in all of college basketball this past season. Paige, who more than doubled his scoring average this season to 17.5 points per game, single-handedly kept the Tar Heels in numerous games, helping resurrect a team that struggled to play consistent basketball for the first half of the year. But unlike many players who make a big jump in production during their sophomore year and bounce for the NBA, Paige will be sticking around in Chapel Hill.

Paige made the announcement on Twitter Monday night. He says he didn’t even think about turning pro.

While Paige’s decision doesn’t come as a complete surprise (the NBA Draft is stacked this year), it is refreshing to see a star college player return for another season as an undergrad. UNC fans will no doubt be excited to hear the news.
