Roy Williams After Miami Loss: “Mentally Worse Than I’ve Ever Felt As A Coach”

North Carolina head coach Roy Williams is letting it be known how frustrated he is with how this season has gone for his Tar Heels. UNC dropped its second straight ACC game Wednesday night against Miami (FL) to open league play 0-2. The loss was the team’s fifth to an unranked opponent this year. While the Tar Heels had more rebounds, more assists and less turnovers than the Hurricanes, they shot just 31% from the field.

At this point, Williams is just letting it all out. During his post-game press conference, he noted how he feels “mentally probably worse” than he’s ever felt coaching.

If the pattern holds, UNC should give No. 2 Syracuse fits on Saturday. The Tar Heels have knocked off all three ranked teams they’ve played this season, despite their overall struggles. The next few weeks will go a long way in determining whether Williams and his squad can turn the year around.
