In Response To Media Inquiry

We are aware of a matter that was investigated by the Tallahassee Police Department almost a year ago. Because the investigation has not been closed by TPD, we cannot comment further at this time. We look forward to a speedy resolution of the issue. There is no change in Jameis Winston’s status. Coach Fisher and Jameis will be answering questions about football only until there is a resolution.

Earlier: Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, who is expected to be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy this year, is being investigated as a suspect in a Tallahassee sexual assault case from December of 2012, according to a TMZ report posted earlier today. TMZ claims that the motive for the alleged crime was “sexual gratification.”

Tomahawk Nation has obtained the official police report, which states that the suspect stands between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11. Winston, as the publication points out, is listed at 6-foot-4.

According to ESPN’s David Hale, Winston will be addressing the media tonight, as normal.
