Game Preview: Florida State vs. 70.5 Points

Apparently, losing star DE Brandon Jenkins (Lisfranc injury to his left foot) for the season hasn’t shaken the odds makers’ confidence in a Seminole victory this Saturday against the FCS-level Savannah State Tigers.

Losing Jenkins and his 41 tackles and 8 sacks from a year ago is huge a blow to No. 6 Florida State’s powerhouse defense, but Coach Jimbo Fisher and his sixth ranked Seminoles will still walk into Doak Cambell Stadium as record setting 70.5 point favorites over the Tigers. A true David versus Goliath matchup.

Actually, it may be an accurate prediction after watching both teams’ performances last week. Florida State opened up its potential title run with a 69-3 victory over Murray State.

Savannah State hoped to start on a positive note after earning one win in their last two seasons combined. Instead, No. 18 Oklahoma State continued to make the Tigers look like a high school team by dropping them 84-0. Yes, you read that correctly…

EJ Manuel and company aim to take advantage of this matchup that was originally supposed to be against West Virginia before its departure to the Big 12. Look for the Seminoles to put up a staggering number of points in the humid Tallahassee heat as FSU gets another preseason-type game before entering ACC play.

Jimbo Fisher will most likely pull the starters very quickly like Oklahoma State did last week. He told CBSSports.com that, “we don’t want to ever embarrass anybody or anything of that nature.”

Sorry Jimbo, but I think that is inevitable at this point. Goliath shall prevail.
