Duke Fans Were So Proud To Watch A Blue Devil Start At QB In The NFL

Let’s just be honest — Duke is not exactly a football school. But every now and then the university does manage to send a player to the league and the fans get pretty excited.

Thaddeus Lewis graduated from Duke two years ago, and today he got his first NFL start at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. His circumstances were less than ideal as he was going up against a vaunted Steelers defense in Pittsburgh, but this did not temper the expectations for those pulling for the Duke alum:

Of course, this also means that some sarcasm and anti-Duke sentiment hit the web too:

Notre Dame alumnus from Erie, PA. Diehard sports guy -- Pittsburgh sports, everything ND, and the Sacramento Kings as well (no NBA in Pittsburgh or I'd be all over that). Love 90's music, naps, and watching movies. I hate vegetables. Extremely sarcastic. Follow me on Twitter @TMoorehead627 or contact me at tyler@collegespun.com
