Video: Dabo Swinney Fires Back At Spurrier: “We’re The First Team From South Carolina To Ever Win A BCS Game”

Four BCS bowls are in the books, and all four underdogs have come away with the win this year. Of course, the latest team to claim victory was the Clemson Tigers, defeating the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Discover Orange Bowl.

Of course, Clemson was thrilled after the win, and head coach Dabo Swinney had a little something special prepared for his postgame trophy acceptance speech. He decided to fire a not-so-subtle shot at Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks: “We’re the first from South Carolina to ever win a BCS game.”

This is pretty much a direct response to Spurrier’s comment after winning the Capital One Bowl — the head ball coach said that winning the “state championship” against Clemson again was as nice as the bowl victory.

So South Carolina beat Clemson this year, then the Gamecocks won the Capital One Bowl, and the Tigers won the Orange Bowl. Which team is the real winner? I’m not exactly sure, but that’s one spectacular rivalry between two very good teams.
