Sammy Watkins Talks Leaving Clemson: “Missing The Family Atmosphere Will Be Hard On Me”

Earlier this week, it was officially announced that Sammy Watkins, the star wide receiver for Clemson, would be forgoing his senior season at the school to enter the NFL Draft. Watkins is expected to be one of the top receivers off of the board in May following an impressive season in which he caught 101 passes for 1464 yards and 12 touchdowns. Today, he met with the media to talk about the decision to go pro, but also to share how much Clemson means to him:

It’s great to see the appreciation and gratitude that Watkins has for the coaching staff that has stood by him throughout his college career, despite a few incidents off of the field. Tigers fans are surely sad to see Watkins leave considering his immense talent and productivity, but they will certainly get a chance to see him play on Sundays here in the near future.
