UConn Renames Stadium Road “Jim Calhoun Way” To Honor Former Basketball Coach

Jim Calhoun may no longer be the head coach of the UConn men’s basketball team, but that doesn’t mean his presence won’t be felt on campus for years to come. Sunday evening, the school held an event titled “Heart Of A Champion: A Tribute To Jim Calhoun” to honor the three-time national champion coach. At the end of the festivities, UConn announced it would be renaming Stadium Road to “Jim Calhoun Way”. Pretty cool.

Calhoun, a beloved figure in Storrs, helped the Huskies rise from mediocrity into a national powerhouse during his tenure. In 2012, he handed off the reigns to one of his former players, Kevin Ollie.
